Broadside 2.0
This is a Board Game
Mactivity's CD-ROM nr 10 advice: This application did
run on a b/w 68030 processor under System 7.1. It was
also tested on a big ColorScreen of a PowerMacintosh
running System 7.1.2. The game was also tested on a
Quadra with 68040 processor and a 13 inch Color Screen
and System 7.1 by Mactivity.
This game is based upon the original Broadside(TM) board
game published by the Milton Bradley Company ©1962.
I have kept everything true to the original game with
the exception of land-based fire-power. The only reason
that I left out the land cannons is because HyperCard
is slow and - for programming reasons - checking to
see if the land cannons have shot a ship would make
the stack run even slower.
Broadside has 2 navies; Red and Blue. The Blue Navy
has to defend its 4 Merchant Ships at dock in the harbor.
The Red Navy is on the offensive, trying to destroy
all of the Blue's Merchant Ships.
To keep the size of the stack down to a reasonable
level, the ships are named either "Red" or
"Blue" instead of having different icons.
Also, the size of the icons doesn't allow for a lot
of detail as far as Red being one pattern and Blue
being another. I hated having to do this, but some
things can't be helped without owning a colour Macintosh.
;) This is the second version released. It now includes
the option for 1 or 2 players. If 1 player is chosen,
the computer will be your opponent.
